Every year, the masses descend on Las Vegas for the largest photography convention – WPPI (Wedding & Portrait Photographers International). And each year, Showit has hosted its own section of the convention for those who use Showit for their websites called United. And each year, while hanging out in Greenville and seeing all the tweets, Facebook posts and pictures from out west, I’ve felt like the kid who had to stay home from the field trip. (I know, it’s really sad.)
So last year, I VOWED that I was going to make it out there this year. And Ben said he wanted to go too!! I was more excited than if we’d won a trip to France! Ok, maybe that’s a stretch, but I was really pumped :-) And believe it or not, as the months went on and Showit had started planning for United, they announced that they were going to host it separate from WPPI… and hold it in Santa Barbara, CA where they’re located. Um…. wow!! And the things they have planned… oh my heavens. They’re giving us opportunities to participate in some incredible shoots (like… on a yacht!) and to hear from some of the most amazing people in this industry including Kenny Kim, Katelyn James, Zach & Jody Gray, Karen & Isaac Stott, Justin & Mary Marantz, and so many more!! Even Ashley and Chris Poisella will be there and will be speaking… and we haven’t seen them since they took our photos in Paris on our honeymoon! So, to say that I’m looking forward to hugging their necks is quite the understatement.
We are so excited to go and learn and meet friends that I’ve known online but never met in person (that sounds way geekier than I mean for it to…) and see friends that we haven’t seen in a while. From the sounds of things, we won’t be getting much sleep, but I think I’ll also have enough photos to blog about for several weeks after we get home!
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again… if you’re looking for a website that you have 100% control over that comes with the best customer service in the universe and a community of people that you can’t find anywhere else… then visit this link and sign up to get your website going. Yes, Showit was designed to give photographers an incredible way to display their photos online, but so many other businesses are using them now! I’ve seen florists, musicians, designers, and even churches create their websites through Showit.
Happy Friday, everyone! I feel like it’s been a while since I’ve been able to say this so I’ll sign off with a little song… “I’m leavin’ on a jet plane… don’t know when I’ll be back again…”
